15 Direct Benefits using WarmCoat Insulating Pain
15 Ways Thermilate Warmcoat Insulating Paint Can Benefit You:
(1) The insulating properties within the Warmcoat Paint forms a thermal barrier reflecting heat back into your room / building, considerably reducing heat loss.
(2) It helps increase room temperature, even as much as 3 degrees with the same heating settings.
(3) Keeps the room warmer for longer when heating is switched off.
(4) You can switch your heating off up to one full hour earlier without any loss of comfort. (that''s how it cuts heating bills & saves energy)
(5) Warmcoat also allows the walls to breath. The incredible combination of the
breathability of the paint along with the heat reflecting properties also helps
to dramatically reduce condensation problems, if not eliminate them completely.
(6) Because it reduces, and in most cases eliminates condensation (appears as damp areas on the wall) it prevents ugly & unhealthy mould growth.
(7) Superb on ceilings & walls of older flat roof extensions, converted garage etc.
(8) Makes a huge difference to room temperature and comfort level in any older home, from detached cottages, farm houses, mass concrete apartments to terraced or semi detached council houses.
(9) Drier, cosier bedrooms make for a better night’s sleep.
(10) Less energy oil / gas etc burned means less damage to the environment.
(11) High quality paint, superior texture and finish, and a reduction on environmental impact, due to its very low VOC level.
(12) Can be painted over with any brand or colour or type of paint.
(13) Can be wallpapered over or visa versa.
(14) Excellent in flats where tenants tend to ‘dry out’ their washing on the rads!!
(15) Last but not least... LOW cost. and it pays for itself fast out of heating bill savings.
How Does Warmcoat Work?
Thermilate Warmcoat actually works in a very simple way. It contains millions of super tiny hollow balls or spheres which are manufactured in a vacuum environment.
When thousands of those very tiny hollow balls are placed side by side as they would be on any painted area, they form what is in effect, a vacuum barrier, (heat cannot pass through a vacuum barrier) meaning it works on the very same principle as the well proven Thermos Flask which traps its hot contents inside the flask while the outside has a totally different temperature. Simple like the best things in life and it works!
If you want to warm up a particular room in your home, apply two coats of the Thermilate Warmcoat to all walls and ceiling. This will "cocoon" any heat you switch on in that room. An extra coat on the inside of any external wall will help even more. Some people choose to only use it on the inside of all outside walls which is fine also but for best results, we recommend two coats on all the rooms walls and ceiling.
[If you only treat the inside of outside walls much of the room''s heat will ''soak'' through all the other untreated surfaces]
If you are more into the ''techie'' side of all this, Warmcoat is made up of a unique combination which contains what are described as NanoCNB structures. (means nothing to me!) The heat is reflected BACK into the room and away from the surface due to the thermal barrier that has been formed. This technology is a spin off or distant relation to that initially developed by engineers working on the NASA shuttle programme. i.e. the thick ceramic tiles attached to the outside of the space shuttle to reduce its 3000c +/- external temperature down to a manageable level during re-entry to the Earth''s atmosphere otherwise it would burn up in seconds. (& no, the shuttles are not ''painted'' with Thermilate) If you are into U Values, Thermilate would come in very modest at about .3 so, unlike mainstream insulation materials, it does not boast much in that respect, because it works in a totally different way... i.e it reflects a lot of the room''s heat back as soon as it ''touches'' the ''Thermilated'' wall. The bottom line is, whatever about all the technology...it actually works.
How does Warmcoat Insulating Paint compare with other insulations?
Thermilite Warmcoat insulating paint is not intended to replace or be a substitute for any other forms of wall insulation. They all have their uses, budget and space allowing.
However, given it''s very low cost, Warmcoat Insulating paint can, by a long shot, claim to be the best value, scarce money insulation for walls & ceilings available anywhere today.
Another huge factor is that it does not ''eat'' into your room''s space as do virtually all other kinds of insulation which can be up to 2 or 3 inches thick and can make the room smaller. (Our Insulating Plaster, will perform very well even at only 10mm thickness)
One point to note... the Warmcoat does not generate heat or warm a room by itself. An unheated cold room will remain that way. Warmcoat works by reflecting back much of the heat (from your heating system) back into the room. To many, the notion of a thin paint film making a difference may sound like a crazy claim, and it does seem hard to believe, but it actually does work. Sceptics are invited to consider the following..how can a flask keep scalding hot water the same way for hours on end with only about 4mm flask wall thickness? [Many people were sceptical of Galileo too when he announced that the Earth was round - not flat, so time reveals all one way or the other] We know from experience dealing with actual users of the product that it works. The majority of our customers now are referred by users friends, colleagues etc. Speaks for itself!
If your home / room allows it and you can afford better quality insulation such as insulated dry lining or external insulation or insulating plaster / render, then choose that because it will give better results.
We do not make any claims that Thermilate Warmcoat is the perfect substitute for vastly more expensive alternatives, (common sense will tell you that you get what you pay for) BUT... no matter what you choose to insulate your walls etc, Thermilate Warmcoat insulating paint WILL make a noticible difference and is well worth the small investment.
If you are on a tight budget and dry lining etc is not an option right now... you cannot lose by applying 2 or 3 coats of Thermilate Warmcoat insulating paint to your internal walls. It WILL make a difference and you will be very happy with it. As mentioned above, if you instal the insulated dry lining, you would be very wise to use the insulating paint as part of your paint job. Makes total sense. Every bit of heat you stop going out through those walls / ceiling is money saved and you get a more comfortable home.
How Does Warmcoat Reduce Condensation?
Warmcoats’ thermal barrier keeps the cold wall surface and the warmer air apart, so as you place your hand on the wall you can feel the heat being reflected back, and the wall itself will feel warmer to the touch.
The contact between the heat from your heating system and the cold wall is significantly reduced once Warmcoat is applied. Therefore the production of water droplets and condensation (& subsequent mould spots) is dramatically reduced if not totally eliminated.
Why Does Condensation Occur?
Apart from inadequate ventilation, condensation occurs when the warm air in a room is attracted to a cool wall, causing water droplets to form on the surface and condensation to build up.
This can also cause discolouration, staining, peeling wallpaper, blistering paint and mould growth. This may also contribute to health problems related with damp living conditions.
Can I use the Thermilate Warmcoat as an Undercoat for other paints?
Yes, absolutely. Considering that over 30% of all your room''s heat loss is out through your walls, it is the common sense way to build in a layer of heat loss prevention into any interior painting project. Do all your preparation in the normal way. Apply 2 or even 3 coats of Warmcoat as undercoats. When dry, apply a coat (or more where necessary) of your favourite paint / colour or brand on top as a finish coat. Note: Because the Warmcoat comes as white as standard, your ceiling will not require further white paint to finish.
What about colours?
Thermilate Warmcoat insulating paint is available in white which you may use as undercoats and you can apply any colour or brand you like as your finish coat. Warmcoat stockists can tint it in so far as white can be tinted.
Just roll on two coats of insulating paint & you will feel a big difference in comfort levels! We suggest you apply 3 coats to inside of external walls for added effect.
Comes white as standard - for best results apply two coats to the walls and ceiling. Assuming ceiling will be left as is - white, and if you want Magnolia or whatever on the walls, just apply your Magnolia on to the walls afterwards... job done.
Important Note: You can finish the paint job with any brand or type or colour of emulsion you like. The Thermilate Warmcoat works even behind the top coat of paint!
Does it work over or under wallpaper?
Warmcoat over Wallpaper:
You can apply Thermilate Warmcoat on top of existing wallpaper provided that it is not loose, not of shiny material and it is clean.
If the wallpaper is a shiny material you should clean & prime it first with ESP to provide a grip for the paint. (ESP - another one of our very useful products is available at all good paint outlets)
Warmcoat under Wallpaper?
You may paper over the Thermilate Warmcoat if you wish. Just follow normal papering procedures. It still works. It is recommended that you choose the mat finish to give better grip for paste etc.
Does it last?
Like any paint, Thermilate warmcoat stays on the wall indefinately. It does not wear off or degrade. Assuming you apply a regular paint of your favourite brand or colour on top, it will need a freshening up eventually at which time, you can opt to just repaint as normal or apply another coat or two of Warmcoat to renew / increase its effectivness.
3 Tips:
1) Use a small roller or special ''radiator brush'' to coat the walls in behind your radiators.
2) Paint Thermilate Warmcoat on to uninsulated hot water cylinders to help keep its heat in and save on heating bills. Use ESP as a primer first when cylinder is cool.
3) If you are planning to install wooden floor or underfloor heating, apply 2 or three coats of Warmcoat to the concrete below first to minimise downward heat loss into the old floor.
Add 25% E-B into the first coat to give it a good grip on the concrete.

Testimonials
“One wall in the small bedroom was always wet and mouldy in cold weather and now its totally dry. That room in particular was always freezing and now it is so comfortable. We’ve now done all the other bedrooms and the hall stairs and landing which we papered over with the Thermilate warmcoat and the difference is amazing. Our gas fired heating burner (Ideal classic) has markings of 1 to 6 and we used to have it set at 5 switched on most of the day. Now it is down to 2 and the house is much warmer than it used to be. I wish we had done this years ago when we moved in. I’d recommend it to anybody. We’re delighted with it” Mrs Trish Pearson, Clonsilla, Dublin 15
“I promised I''d let you know how how I got on with the paint. I’m thrilled to bits the way my bedroom has turned out after using the thermilate paint. The walls used to be damp to the touch and mouldy, and it was very hard to get a proper nights sleep, i was wheezy etc. I put on two coats on the walls and ceiling and the difference is unbelievable. The room is much warmer & drier, the musty smell is gone and Im breathing and sleeping much better now. My daughter is getting her house done with it in the next few weeks. It has made such a difference to me. Thanks a million for such a great product. Ive been telling everybody about it since.” Connie Cullen Dublin 12
"I think its a terrific product. It saved me a dry lining job and a lot of trouble. I''ve recommended it to all my friends and neighbours." Jim Cullen Dublin 7
"We used it in a sitting / dining room which was always cold. There''s no doubt about it we find the room much warmer & we noticed a big difference. We are going to use it in one of the bedrooms next." J & C Folan, Claregalway.
"I''ve used it loads of times and swear by it. I wouldn''t do any interior paint job now without the Thermilate. A great product." Larry Higgins Co Meath.
"I bought and used Thermilate for one bedroom about four years ago. Whikle I was initially sceptical, I decided to take a chance on it anyway as it wasn''t too expensive. To prove it to myself I placed a thermomoter in the room for a month before painting it. After I applied the Thermilate I placed the thermometer back in the room again for another month. To my surprise I discovered that without changing any heating settings or rad, it showed an extra 3 degrees temperature on average in that same room. I am very happy with it and tell all my friends now!" Deirdre Collins, Dublin 14
"I am a qualified painter and decorator for 12 years and I''ve used the Thermilate in all the rooms in my own home. There is absolutely no doubt that it makes a big difference in comfort level. Having felt the effect of if for myself at home I now offer our insulating paint service to all my customers and the feedback from them is exactly the same, a first class product" Greg Lennon. Heat shield, Dublin 12
"I collected the Thermilate two weeks ago and I must say the room ( the main living room ) which we applied it has never felt as warm in the thirteen years we have lived in the house. This is amazing considering we only applied two coats to the two exterior facing walls. Our house is about 65 years old and has no interior stud work all the walls are solid. As you can imagine it can be very hard to heat and even harder to hold the heat in. This weekend we are taking on the box bedroom, this is by far the coldest room in the house and a great test for Thermilate. The room also has some condensation / mould so I will be using the Acrylic on two walls and the Vinyl on the other two walls and the ceiling. If this room is a success I will be applying two coats to all exterior facing walls in the house. I will let you know how it goes. Gerry McCarthy Dublin 22
"We have used the Thermilate all over our home and it is absolutely amazing. Our neighbours were so impressed that they have used it also. There''s no way we would go back to how it used to be. Our radiator usage as well as heating bills has been cut and the place is much more cosy than before. I''d highly recommend it to anybody. Its a very cheap answer to a cold house" Barry Mullan Dublin 24
"My sister told me about it, now I want it and I''ll be telling everybody on the road and in work" Anne Mullins Santry.
"I cannot understand why everybody in the country isn''t using this, it''s amazing. I suppose they have not heard about it yet" Maura Cummins Walkinstown.
"I have no central heating in my house, so in the winter, as soon as I left the lounge the house was always absolutely freezing, as this is the only room with a gas fire or any method of heating.
The bathroom was particularly cold, and also had trouble with condensation.
I saw Thermilate and thought I''d give it a try. I decided to buy it, because it has been developed in association with NASA, and has been tested by many other independent organisations. I thought I’d give it a try, nothing to lose................ I can certainly tell you I am very very happy with the results........nearly a year later and still no condensation in the bathroom, and the best thing is........my house at last actually feels unbelievably warmer throughout the winter, (I could actually leave the lounge). I haven''t measured the exact temperature, I don''t need to……..it’s so much warmer maybe at least 3-4 degrees, even the walls feel warmer....Thermilate is an incredible product" Ms T Fenwick from Louth
"I tend to be very sceptical about many of those new so-called miracle products. I was wary about this too but but a friend of mine whose opinion I would respect told me that he had used Thermilate Warmcoat to great effect so I decided to give it a try in the box bedroom which tends to be quite cold. I have to say I was amazed at the difference in the room temperature. Much cosier and I even had to turn down the rad because the room was getting too warm on the previous setting. No doubt about it, this Thermilate Warmcoat works. I will certainly be using Warmcoat on all future paint jobs around the house." Pat Kelly, Building Services Specialist Ashbourne
“I have a bedroom that can be quite cold and condensation is a problem on the walls.
I repainted the walls with Thermilate Warmcoat last March and no mould or mildew has reappeared since. I also found that the room was a lot more cosy. Thermilate works, no doubt about it” Maura C Cavan
"I would just like to leave my comments about an amazing product that does exactly what it says it does on the packaging...INSULATES! Thermalite really does work. I live in an old stone cottage on top of a hill (very, very windy and stormy). Over the years my husband and I have dry-lined our cottage but there was a north facing wall in the kitchen which we never got round to doing so we decided to try Thermalite instead. The difference in the heat that is retained in my kitchen now is very noticeable. Even on a mild day the kitchen used to feel quite cool. Not any more. It just feels so cosy. We are so impressed by this product that we are ordering more! I can''t recommend it enough and it certainly deserves a 5 star rating." Trudy Cowx... Co Clare
“I used it in an extension and the effect of the extra heat was very noticeable” K. Flynn D13
